Cuny Blackboard: How to Access CUNY eLearning Portal 2023

CUNY Blackboard is an online learning resource available to the entire CUNY community. The Blackboard login is accessed through the CUNY Portal. If you are a CUNY student, faculty, or staff member, a CUNY Portal account has been reserved for you.

To access your account, you must register by creating a username and password. Please note that these credentials may be different from your campus usernames and passwords.

How to Log into CUNY Blackboard

There are two ways to access CUNY Blackboard: log in through CUNYfirst or log directly into Blackboard.

Log in Through the CUNY Portal

  1. Navigate to cuny.edu on your web browser.
  2. Click the “Portal Log-in” link.
  3. Enter your CUNY Portal username and password, and click the “Log-in” button.
  4. Click on the Blackboard link.
  5. The Blackboard e-learn page will open with the Home tab active. Courses are displayed in the My Courses module.

Log Directly into Blackboard

  1. Navigate to www.cuny.edu on your web browser.
  2. Position your mouse over the “Log-in” link, then click on “Blackboard (bbhosted.cuny.edu)” on the left side of the page.
  3. Enter your CUNY Portal username and password in the small window that appears, and click the “OK” button.
  4. The Blackboard page will open with the Home tab active. Courses are displayed in the My Courses module on the right side of the screen.

How to Reset Your CUNY Blackboard Password

If you need to change your CUNY Blackboard login password, please follow the procedures depicted below:

  1. Go to the CUNY Portal.
  2. Click the “Account and Password Reset” link.
  3. On the user validation screen, enter your last name (case not important), your 9-digit Faculty ID number (Social Security number), and your birth date. Click the “Next” button.
  4. Click “Confirm” if the correct data is entered. If you made a mistake, click “Cancel” and re-enter your information.
  5. The Password Reset page will show you your username and the option to create a new password. Confirm the new password in the second field and click “Save.”
  6. Once you click “Save,” you will be redirected to the CUNY Portal page. Enter your username and your new password to access CUNY Blackboard.
