Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is responsible for the maintenance and development of the Trunk and Regional Roads Network in Tanzania Mainland. The agency also conducts axle Load Control Operations using weighbridge scales.
The Regional Manager of TANROADS Kigoma, on behalf of the Chief Executive, seeks qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill vacant positions for the Upgrading of Kibondo – Mabamba Road Project to Bitumen Standard.
Position Title: Senior Engineer (Materials) – (1 Post)
Entry Qualifications:
- Must be a Tanzanian Citizen with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent from recognized institutions.
- At least seven (7) years of working experience in a related field.
- Must be registered by ERB as a Professional Engineer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise the laboratory and experiments, strictly applying the specifications.
- Ensure the implementation of QA/QC procedures in the project.
- Inspect, test, and approve all materials and completed works to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
- Ensure proper calibration of all testing equipment in the laboratories.
- Organize, store, and label approved material samples on site.
- Prepare daily reports on work, approved samples, and supplied materials, maintaining records of all material activities.
- Advise the Resident Engineer on materials used on site and quality control.
- Review test results by the contractor and their respective pavement and materials reports, providing guidance on the way forward.
- Be ready to work for considerable lengths of time in Kibondo District, where the project is located.
Position Title: Assistant Land Surveyor (1 Post)
Entry Qualifications:
- Must be a Tanzanian Citizen with a Diploma in Land Surveying or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- At least three (3) years of working experience in a related field.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of sketches, maps, and reports of works performed.
- Assist in reviewing survey data for accuracy, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
- Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
- Assist in determining specifications for photographic equipment to be used for aerial photography.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Position Title: Senior Engineer (Highway Engineer) – 2 Posts
Entry Qualifications:
- Must be a Tanzanian Citizen with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- At least seven (7) years of working experience in a related field.
- Must be registered by ERB as a Professional Engineer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise conformity to contract conditions and specifications.
- Review existing designs, identify any shortfalls, and advise the Resident Engineer appropriately during the construction period.
- Identify and locate all beacons and benchmarks to enable the contractor to set out and construct the works.
- Inspect completed works to ensure compliance with technical specification requirements.
- Prepare control charts of the main activities and a project master schedule, indicating both past performance and forecasts for completion, including the time involved in each case.
- Measure quantities of works satisfactorily carried out.
- Prepare and submit detailed progress reports with updated costs of the civil works to the Resident Engineer.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Project Manager (PM).
Terms of Service:
- Specified Contract for 1 year.
- Salary: TANROADS Salary scale with other site allowances as per TANROADS Incentive Policy.
